Should I Be Worried As It Hurts While Breathing After Hitting A Tree?
I was sledding yesterday and hit a tree with my back. Was going maybe 15-20 mph I guess. It knocked the wind out of me and now it hurts to breathe and move my neck and body in certain directions. Only hurts to breathe on deep breathes on the right side of my back.
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. You are having blunt chest trauma. Rib fractures, pneumothorax, pulmonary contusions and musculoskeletal injury are common complications after blunt chest trauma. All these can cause chest and back pain on breathing. So better to first get done chest x ray. If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry for major complications like pneumothorax, rib fractures or Pulmonary contusions. Simple musculoskeletal pain is more likely in your case. So avoid movements causing pain. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Apply warm water pad on affected areas. Take painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs. You will mostly improve in 1-2 weeks. Don't worry, you will be alright, but first get done chest x ray. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
