Should I Be Worried Of Passing Of Blood Clots After Surgical Abortion?
I had a surgical abortion 4 days ago. The first and second day I was in agony. The pain was unbearable and nothing was relieving it. I had mild bleeding that was completely gone by the end of the second day. The third day no blood and little to no pain. But the next day the pain was just as bad as the first day and now I'm passing really big clots. Should I be concerned?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood your concern. Your symptoms are suggestive of a possible incomplete evacuation. This can be diagnosed by a sonogram of the pelvis. I would ask you to see your consultant immediately to plan further management. The pain is most likely due to uterine cramping. You also need to get the bleeding time and clotting time done. On examination, if it is confirmed that you need a check curettage, it would be ideal to do it at once in view of the bleeding, under antibiotic coverage. Any bleeding diatheses also should be taken care of. Hope your query has been answered. Wish you good health.
