Should I Meet A Doctor For Chest Pain, Cough And Difficulty In Breathing After Hitting?
My husband was playing soccer last week a man bumped in his chest with his head hard.My husband still has chest pain and 5 days later developed a type of cold coughs and pain when he moves and breathes hard. Could he have severe internall injury? Should he go to the er? He has no medical insurance
Trauma to the chest can cause soft tissue injury or fracture to the sternum or ribs. Soft tissue injury would refer to damage to muscles, ligaments , tendons and connective tissue.
Both types of injury would cause chest pain which may be aggravated by breathing. Fracture may be accompanied by shortness of breath. He may want to consider the use of an anti inflammatory pain medication such as ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam. If after 24 to 48 hours there is no response then he should visit his doctor for assessment.
I hope this helps
