Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should Masturbation Be Done Regularly To Prevent Prostate Cancer?
I have porn-induced erectile dysfunction. I’m 30 years old. In order to reverse it, I’ve embarked on the journey of no fap-no PMO (porn, masturbation, and orgasm). However, I’ve chanced upon an article that says men who do not masturbate are more prone to prostrate cancer. I’d like to know how long can I go without masturbation without exposing myself to the risk of PC. I’ve got no family history though. I’m serious about my ED and I want to reverse it!

Short answer: There is no golden rule!
Detailed answer: Masturbation or sex is important for the health of prostate. The true meaning is that it is better for men to ejaculate from time to time because this keeps the prostate in continuous functioning (prostate gland produces spermatic liquid which is important for the sperm), rather then abstaining from any form of ejaculation. There is a gold expression about this: use it or loose it! Indeed, studies have shown that ejaculation is good for prostate health. As regards your question, there is no rule in how long one can resist masturbation before increasing his PC risk. The longevity of spermatozoids is 96 hours (4 days) and a man has to ejaculate (masturbation or sex) at least once every 4 days to empty the ageing spermatozoids. Because of such cycle, young men often ejaculate involuntarily (in sleep) if they did not ejaculate for some days. Therefore, I would suggest that you should ejaculate at least at this frequency (or even more rarely) in order to keep your prostate healthy. It is important to know that masturbation does not cause ED directly or "per se" as studies do not support such association! I hope I helped you somehow!
