Should Medications For Thyroid Problems Be Taken Lifelong?
Hi i'm 25 year old married name seema , height 5'8" weight 35 and recently had atest for t3, t4, tsh witch recorded in test report t3(4.71ng/ml) t4(269.60ug/dl) & tsh(2.769ulU/ml) please tell me it could heal in future or i have to take medicine life long. What all i can do for containing it within limit for rest of my life. pls give me your valuable advise to live happy life. i"ll be greatful to you. Thanks
Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. You did not specify whether these tests are done while taking medication or prior to that. Thyroid hormone problems might fluctuate with age. It is important to keep your levels checked regularly. And continue with treatment so as to achieve normal test reports. Medications are not to be stopped at the achievement of normal thyroid reports. Rather that dose has to be continued. Sometimes dose might need to be increased or reduced depending on the reports. Life long medication is required. Lifestyle changes like stress removal and healthy eating promote good health. However stopping medications has more side effects than Taking them life long.
