Should Swelling And Pain In Finger After Recovering From An Injury Cause Worry?

I cut my finger on Thanksgiving with a knife. It was painful and swollen. I went to an Insta Care on November 30 and was given Bactrim DS. I took Rx as prescribed. The cut has healed but my finger is still swollen and aches a lot. Should I be concerned? Do I need to give it more time for the swelling to go away?

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
You definitely need more time for swelling and tenderness to go away. Dip your fingers in warm water and take some antiinflammatory analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for few days. Also consult an orthopedician or surgeon to rule out deep tissue or tendon injuries.
Hope this helped.
Take care
