Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should The ER Be Visited For Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?
My husband s took his blood pressure 190/ 80, heart rate was down to 69. Last time was 180/80. Should we go to hospital? He had a heart attack last may and had two stints put in. Cardiologist was able to clean out veins. Healthy heart. ?????? Should I be concerned?
I would explain that his blood pressure values are really high and this could cause harm to his heart, considering the fact that he has cardiac stents.
For this reason, I would recommend going to the ER for a physical exam, a resting ECG and cardiac enzymes and some blood lab tests (fasting glucose, blood electrolytes, kidney and liver function tests, etc.).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
