age 60 height 5feet 6 inches weight 14 stone diabetes type 2 previous bouts of pneumonia diagnosed as BOOP (cryptogenic organising pneumonisa) no treatment for that as it got better. metformin(glucophage for 2 years but with digestive upsets) high blood sugars last HB1Ac 8.9 stopped taking that a week ago and now prescribed glicazide tablets but starting these tomorrow...but i dont want to take these as they make tyou gain weight but my DB nurse days no they dont. If they do then i certainly dont want to take them. i dont want to take any meds at all but as i had a test reading of 18.2 after eating high carbs should i start taking the gliclazide . thanks for your help

For your blood sugar to get under control, medication is mandatory. Gliclazide is very effective anti-diabetic drug. It doesn't cause wait gain. You can take the medication. Along with medication exercise and diet control also is mandatory.
