Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should The Patient Be Accompanied By Someone When A Stress Test Is Done?
I am having a stress test done on Tues as the result of an EKG that indicated I had experienced an anteroseptal infarction. This was discovered when I went for a routine physical. My primary care Dr. didn't mention it but someone told me that I should have someone accompany me to the test...I'm guessing this is for the purpose of driving me home? I can't get any of the answering services to relay my question to a Dr. as it is after hours and I won't be able to ask on Monday because it's a holiday. My husband would need to take time off from work in order to drive me home it this is the case. Can anyone tell me if this would be necessary? Thank you.
Hi, This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist from fortis hospital. Skipped or increased pulse rate can be because of any stress state(including inflammation), exercise or during emotional state. Still also get a ECG done to rule out abnormality if any. Thanks Wishing you good health Dr Sameer Maheshwari
