Should The Scan Be Done Within 10 Days Of The Last Period?
i have a large fibroid 12x12x10cm which is growing above my womb. Ultra sound could not see one of my ovaries so i have to have a CT. Doctor asked me for date of period, told him 13/7. I have CT appointment for 28/7 but says it must be within 10 days of start of last period which is today. Can't call them until Monday. Why is period so important? I don't understand why they'd ask for period date then give appointment that conflicts?! Concerned about ovarian tumour!! :o(
1.Yes in case of large fibroids the capability of the ultrasound will reduce. Computer tomography and MRI will give better imaging help. 2.The reason behind asking the periods is to make sure you are not pregnant. 3.As in pregnancy its not good to get radiation, it give harmful effect to pregnancy. 4.I think the large uterus itself causing suboptimal view of the ovaries. The fibroids should be removed as soon as possible, as it may complicate in pregnancies. 5.There are no features suggest - ovarian tumours / malignancy.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
