Hello dear,
After going through your history, I believe you have some genuine concern and I will try to help you out of this situation.

Anti-streptolysin O (ASO) is the antibody produced by our body against streptolysin O toxin produced by streptococcus bacteria when we get infected with it. A raised or rising level can indicate past or present infection. The presence of these antibodies indicates an exposure to these bacteria. However, as many people are exposed to these bacteria and remain asymptomatic, the mere presence of ASO does not indicate disease.

In addition to that tonsil is a part of pharynx and removal of tonsils will not prevent further infection by the same bacteria. Of course if you are having recurrent tonsillitis, then you should get the tonsil removed.

Please note an attack of tonsillitis is defined as sore throat along with fever more than 101 degree Fahrenheit (Normal body temperature is 98.4 degree Fahrenheit). If you are having more than 5 episodes of tonsillitis in a year for which you have to take a break from work, then you should definitely go for the surgery.

I hope I could solve your query. Please do not hesitate to clarify more doubts for the same situation.

Thank you for the way you are in my life.
