Should Vaginal Lip Discoloration Be Checked By A Gynecologist?

Hi there - during october 2010 i noticed for the 1st time dark blue / purple like discoloring on the skin around my vagina opening. There is one very dark (almost dark purple) spot between my clitoris and vagina opening. (At first I thought it might be bruising of some kind). Between then and now i think the discolored area has increased. There is no bump, itching, soreness or discomfort, it appears to be only a change in skin color. I had a pap smear in December which was normal. Should i be concerned and get this checked out by my gynecologist?
