Should We Consult A Doctor If A Hypertensive Patient Is Having Low Blood Pressure?
I have a male friend who has Parkinson s and he is also on medication for high blood pressure: 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 before bedtime. I do not know what to tell his sister right now. He has an appointment tomorrow. His last 2 blood pressures were 74/40 and then 95/41. I told her definitely not to give him the blood pressure medication. They are considering taking him to the ER but he does not want to go and when he gets there his BP will be elevated because he would be quite angry. Should he be taken to the ER tonight or just wait to see his physician tomorrow? He is 67 years of age.
hello there... as you mentioned your friend is elderly 67 years old with parkinsonism.. you have not mentioned which medications he is taking... some antiparkinsonian medicine can also lead to load blood pressure.. he definitely need to be taken to ER if his systolic blood pressure is below 90 and diastolic blood pressure is below 60... if he complains of anything like giddiness, sweating, fatigue, difficulty in concentrating... then definitely he will require medical attention...
