What Causes Low Blood Pressure?

I been taking Metoprolol tartrate 12.5 mg twice a day for three years. I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease and placed on a reduced sodium diet 6 weeks ago. My blood pressure has been in the 116/70 - 82/64 range during the last month. I m concerned my blood pressure is too low and think with adherence to the reduce sodium diet, I plan to ask my doctor if my current dosage 25 mg a day dosage of the Metoprolol can/should be reduce. Your thoughts please.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Low sodium diet is associated with low blood pressure in most of the cases.

I too agree you should discuss further with your doctor to reduce dosage of Metoprolol and check blood electrolytes to replace them adequately.

Wish fast recovery.
