Should We Visit Doctor For Scrape On Toe Smelling Like Cheese Or Clean The Wound By Ourself?
My 4 yr old son has a scrape on his toe and it has had a bandaid on it for 3 days. We took the bandaid off and it smells like cheese and he says the would hurts. Do we need to take him to the doctor for antibiotics or just clean the wound and make sure to keep it clean?
I can understand the concern for toe smelling like cheese in your son.
As the toe smelling like cheese and is also hurting so an oral antibiotic would be necessary. You should preferably meet a dermatologist who can examine you physically and provide you the best treatment.
I advise you to not pinch or pop the area otherwise these areas are very prone for getting secondary infection. You can clean the area and apply fucidin or mupirocin cream for the time being period. You can give NSAIDS pain killer like paracetamol for two times.
Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem.
Get your son immunized for tetanus also if not immunized in 1 year period. Keep the limb elevated to reduce swelling and hurting.
IN future never keep any area closed for 3 days!!! Take care
