Single Intrauterine Gestation Present . Embryo Not Well Appreciated. What Does The Report Say?
The sonography report reads as follows.. What does this indicate?
Single intrauterine gestation of 5 weeks 6 days is present. Gestation sac size is 11.5 mm. Embryo is not well appreciated. There is a 13-15 mm sized subchorionic collection. Liquor amni is normal. Internal OS is closed and length of cervix is normal. Embryonal viability cannot be assessed at this stage.
This report is saying that embryo is not well developed and you should wait for next 7-10 days, then go for a repeat sonography.
Sometimes there are blighted ovum also seen, which are basically un-embryonic pregnancies and get spontaneous terminated later on.
After around a week or more, there will be a clear picture of blighted ovum or embryo with cardiac activity.
Usually by 6 weeks in trans vaginal ultrasound fetal cardiac activity can be seen and in trans abdominal scan it has to be noted by 7 weeks, if you undergone trans abdominal scan you can wait for one more week as your doctor told for safe side.
So wait for a week and get repeat USG.
Regards,
Dr. Naresh Jain.
