Single Strong Beat That Takes Your Breath For A Second While Heart Tests Are Normal

Hi. I am a 30 year old male, that has suffered from anxiety and did all the test of heart that came fine. But what bothers me are the single strong beat that takes your breath for a second that scares me to much. What should i do to clear everyhing from my head that my heart is ok. I recently did a 48 h holten that came "more than normal" told te doctor. Can you please help me?! I can send you all my exams and tests.., thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Most probably these are ventricular premature complexes. These are ectopic or extra beats. These are usually benign and not life threatening. These are frequently associated with caffeine, alcohol, thyroid problems may aggravate these.

So before going ahead we need to confirm it. Since these are not frequent Ecg may be normal. Did you have any such beat during holter monitoring, if yes it may detect otherwise not.

You should also get thyroid test done. Since, you have already undergone all tests like echo and all, I don't think there is any need to worry.

You ll need beta blockers like Metoprolol to keep these under control which will help to subside this.
