Skin Growing Faster In An Area On Lower Lip, Red. Applied Locoid. Should I Undergo Laser Treatment?

For years and years now, in one area on my lower lip, the skin grows in thicker, like plastic leather. I always pick it off to make it feel smooth as the rest of the lip area. But of course, it leaves the area red. Does anyone know why skin cells act or grow differently on the lip area? I've tried various moisturizers offered from a dermatologist clinic, such as Locoid. No moisturizer seems to help or change the cell composition of my lip. Should I consider laser treatment?

Hi and thanks for the query,
the options to undergo laser treatment or not depends on an appropriate diagnosis. Other metabolic conditions like endocrine disorders need to be ruled out. You need to be sure no other region of the body is going through any decolorization process. It is only after this that other options can be considered. It might be necessary to circumscribe the area and do a biopsy. this however depends on the results of the clinical review of your dermatologist. Laser treatment is good, but other clinical and pathological considerations must be considered. Seek the opinion of your dermatologist. Kind regards
