Small And White Spots On Legs. Applying Repigmin Lotion. What May Be Wrong?
Hi, My son 13 years has small white spots on his feet and legs..he has been applying Repigmin lotion (Ranbaxy Laboratories) on these while spots as doctor said that he is suffering from Luckoderma.. Now Repigmin medicine is not available in market, could you suggest/advise whether Melanocyl whose salt is similar to Repigmin can be used or not or else suggest any other medicine. Just to share that after applying Repigmin his white spots used to turn red and later black but it has regained the skin color again and seemed effective. Doctor also advised to refrain from Citrus fruits which we did and also he was advised to take LIV 52 tonic. Regards Sanjay
Repigmin is a correct treatment for leukoderma. Melanocyl is exactly same as that of repigmin. Only the company name is different.
Dont worry you can very well use it .

Hi, Thanks for writing to us. Melanocyl lotion and repigmin contains the same compound. So if repigmin is not available, you may use melanocyl. Melanocyl needs to be diluted in spirit in 1:10 ratio. The solution can be applied over the white lesions and exposed to sun initially for 30 seconds or so and then time is increased thereafter. This can be done every alternate days in a week. As far as food is concerned, some believe that citrus fruits or vitamin c containing fruits should be avoided as vitamin c inhibits melanin production. As such role of diet in vitiligo is not much seen. Apart from melanocyl lotion, your son can apply tacrolimus 0.1% cream two times in a day and a steroid cream like fluticasone once in a day for better response. Hope that helped. Take care
