Small Brown, Purplish Bruise Like Spots On Torso And Buttocks. History Of Having Protected Sex With Sex Workers And Taking PEP Later. Possible HIV Rash?
Hi I had protected sex with two prostitues two days ago and in on of the instances my condom rided up a bit and the female pushed the condom down and continued with intercourse. The tip of the condom never reached the glans penis. But I then was started on PEP 34 hours post exposure but a couple of hours after taking the pill I noticed small brown/purplish bruise like spots. 4 small spots were on my left torso and one was on my right buttocks. I am really scared that this could be an acute hiv rash. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. I have no other symptoms at the moment.

The rashes as mentioned in your post can be either due to drug eruptions or infections.
Kindly consult your treating physician & discuss regarding this matter.
As you have performed protected intercourse, the chance of acquiring HIV infection is minimal.
The chances of acquiring HIV occurs in 2 cases:
1. If your partner is affected with HIV
2. If there is any cut/raw surface through which the infection can spread.
If the above mentioned criteria doesn't hold true for your case, then there is no need to worry about getting HIV.
However, if you are worried, then you can take certain tests like p24 assay or PCR for HIV, which becomes positive within a week and are almost 100 % sensitive.
Even the presence of a single virus in the body can be detected by PCR.
So, if this test comes negative, you can be sure that you are safe.
