Hi,
Noted you short and specific history about your 5 year old child.
It is difficult to believe that our child was born with hemorrhoids, not really heard so.
This is most probably
rectal prolapse found in particular with patients with less peri-anal fat pad.
I would advise you the following:
First of all, get a consultation and examination by a Pediatric Surgeon to be sure about the diagnosis.
Ultrasonography of abdomen, ano-proctoscopy helps further.
If there is rectal prolapse then your child needs the following:
Correction of diet so that the child has some amount of fat pads.
May need a small surgery called Thiersch stitch to avoid the prolapse.
Since you have mentioned about big and itchy mass this is most probably prolapse as discussed about.Applying
Hydrocortisone may not help at all.
Also send stool for lab along with blood, get corrected if there is an positive findings.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
