Small Child, Cold, Cough, Wheezing After Eating Chocolate, Something Cold. Cure?

Hi My 3 year old son frequently catches cold and cough . Sometime when he breathes we can hear the wheezing like noise. Does this mean he is asmithic or is this normal with kids in this age, As a pattern he gets sick with cold when he eats chocolates, cakes, sugar or does something cold. We do travel frequently as well. KIndly suggest the best habits advisable for him.

Pediatrician, Neonatology 's  Response
Hi
frequent cough and cold with wheeze in children are suggestive of bronchial asthma.
Child may be allergic to cocoa, milk, soy, eggs, peanuts or tree nuts that are commonly found in most chocolates and cakes. However, allergy to sugar is not common but cases are reported with asthma attacks after sugar.
Please visit your pediatrician to get the child examined (during such period, if possible) and start treatment as necessary.
For prevention of attacks, avoid the foods causing symptoms. Keep him well covered to prevent from cold. Avoid dust, fragrances, flower pollen, smoke. Keep rescue medicine (like salbutamol inhaler + Spacer) always ready to treat an acute attack. He may need regular medicines to prevent frequent and seasonal asthma attacks.
