Small Child, Discharge From Right Eye, Ears, Nasal Discharge. Cure For Symptoms?
Hi, I have a 9 month old son and this morning when he woke up, he had discharge in his right eye. I came home from work and his nose was running, there was some discharge in his right ear, only and his eye was still producing discharge! He doesn t act like it bothers him? Is there anything I can do until I can get him to his regular pediatrician Monday? Thanks in advance!
Dear Concerned.,
Thanks for writing to us.
In all probabality, your son has developed infection in his upper respiratory system with contiguous spread to conjuctiva, lacrimal glands, and ears(ASOM). Does he have temperature?pls check the tempr.
You may start with prophylactic first aid measures before contacting your MD. If temperature is >100 Deg F, then you may start with hydrotherapy ?tepid sponging. In addition keep the ear clean and dry.Pls do not apply any ear drops (as it may itself cause Otomycosis) without consulting your MD.
Clear his nose periodically and normal saline drops may be used to clear the same.
In addition consult your paediatrician for further management like deciding on course of antibiotic/decongestant/antibiotic eye drops.
Wishing your son a speedy recovery.,
Best Regards.,
