Small Child, Flu Like Symptoms, Walking On Tiptoes, Pain In Heels. Causes?
Dear Doctor, after flu-like symptoms our little son of four is walking on tiptoes and does not seem to be able to put his heels down. The calves feel soft and not cramped, but he complains of pain there. Until the flu our son was the most athletic of boys you can imagine and a great runner. We would be grateful for your thoughts. This is looking like viral fever with myalgia or viral myositis. You can give adequate rest, proper hydration and analgesic drugs like ibuprofen in prescribed dosage for the pain relief and consult your Pediatrician for examination and further specific treatment.

Get him seen by a Pediatrician and have his limbs thoroughly examined.
He might be having transient inflammation of the muscles that can happen in viral fevers- due to which he might complain of pain.
Just analgesic like Ibuprofen for few days along with rest and plenty of fluids will do in such a case.
Wish him a speedy recovery.
