Small Child, Pain On Passing Gas, Bowel Movements, Hard Stools Followed By Diarrhea. Cure?
Hi, my 3 year old son suffers from a lot of pain when passing wind and also have bowel movements, he has always had problems going to toilet and doesn t like going. Every bowel move ment is different but always sore it can be hard pellets in morning then diarrhoea later that day. He has a pretty good diet I think gets loads of excersises so not sure what causes so much pain
Your child may have functional constipation. Because of hard stool mucus layer in rectum gets laceration and fissure in turn it will cause pain and child refuse to go to toilet and stool gets hardened. Above hardened stool loose stool formation occur and it leads to diarrhea. Add dietary fibre to his diet in the form of fruits , vegetables and leafy vegetable, ragi, brown bread. Encourage to drink plenty of water and oral fluids and to go toilet regularly. During hard stool you can give lactulose syrup orally in prescribed dosage to make stool soft and loose
some discomfort while passing wind is very common complaint but not every time. if this is a constant feature having pain passing wind and stool then you should get it examined by a pediatrician if there is any fissure or other local problem causing this.
the symptoms of inconsistent consistency can be tackled by giving a fiber rich diet that will take care of loose stools as well as constipation. like avoiding processed food, junk food, using whole grain bread, fruits and green leafy vegetables, and limiting dairy products are some dietary modifications that may help.
hope you benefit from my advice
