my baby is 35 days old. He is suffering cough and cold for last 7-8 days and also suffer not passes stool in every day .But unine normal passes. My padiatrcian has prescribe Clavum drops for 7 days , Mucolite drops for 7 days, and also Fibolac drops . All medicines are continues for 3 days , But inproved very slow .What am i doing now ?
From the history of symptoms you provided, it appears you baby is suffering from respiratory tract infection. The antibiotic prescribed needs to be administered for at least 7 days as you mentioned.
You need to give sometime for the medication to show its effect. Do keep in mind that even when the infection is cleared, some cough may still persist for even a week or more after stopping medication. What is more important is that the condition of the baby should not worsen.
Keep monitoring the baby's fever as this should be lowered with either tepid sponging or paracetamol drops. Also ensure that there is no breathing difficulty or increase in respiratory rate. Yes adequate urine output is a good way of ensuring adequate milk intake.
Remember that stool frequency varies markedly among babies. The average stool frequency is 5-6 times in newborns but some babies may pass stool only once a day or alternate days.
