Hi,
Thank you for your query.
Improvement of rickets depends on serum calcium, phosphate and alkaline phosphatase levels.
Radiology takes time to show improvement.
Diet should be normal avoiding leafy vegetables.
Morning sunlight is ideal,30mins /day.
Avoid evening light.
Hope this answers your query.
If you have any other queries kindly direct them to me.
Wishing a speedy recovery.
Have a nice day.

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
The treatment for rickets is by giving Vitamin D injection.
After 4 weeks X-ray has to be taken to know the healing process.
If the healing is present child can be put on vitamin D and calcium supplementation to prevent rickets.
In X-ray, if there is no healing, then another dose of Vitamin D injection has to be given, still there is no response the other causes of Vitamin D resistant rickets has to be evaluated further.
Oral vitamin D also can be given in higher doses for 5 weeks to achieve the healing in alternate to injection.
You can give fortified diet.
Sun exposure is not effective in treating rickets.
Hope I have answered your query.
