Small Painful Dent In Head Without Any Injury Followed By Headaches. Should I Be Concerned?

Dear Doctor,
My wife has a pain at the back of her head on the right hand side for the past 3 days. She took some painkillers and was relieved and the pain seems to be subsiding. She complained to me that it is quite painful when she touches that area and she has not sustained any injury. So when I looked, I felt a small dent about 1inch long. When I pressed there it was painful for her but she could bear the pain. The only other symptom she has is a headache but there is no nausea feeling or dizziness or any kind of itchiness in that area. That area does not appear to be inflamed and there are no rashes either. She has consulted our GP today who has examined that area. He concluded that she probably tied her hair very tightly and therefore this has occurred. Further he said since there are no other symptoms the pain will go away in a few days. She does have a poor eyesight and will be getting her glasses tomorrow. Some medication has been prescribed which she has to complete in one weeks time.

Kindly advise whether there is any cause of concern for her condition.

Thank you.

Thanks for consulting HCM.
it might be that she hurt her head somewhere withought realizing the pain and the bump+pain appeared later. She should take the medicine being prescribed and add a serattiopeptidase which reduces swelling so it might make the bump disappear. As long as she does not have any symproms like drowsiness or confusion she is fine. she should complete the course of medication that are prescribed and re-visit the GP if it does not improve.
Regards.
