Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So kind of a long question but basically I live in Victoria Texas and I live in an apt. I seen a mouse around and decided to clean up. In my pantry I found mouse droppings and chewed up plastic. I cleaned it with a broom not knowing about using protective wear or the hps virus. After killing the mouse i called our local exterminator and he classified the mouse as a Norway mouse that’s not known to carry hps. So it was a little relief to me because of reading everything about hps. So after that I cleaned an area that I found to be where the mouse came from. It was a closet there were old boxes in there so I used a bleach and water solution and wore gloves goggles and a mask. The only issue is I used just a 3m dust mask not knowing that I had to use an n95 mask. So my question is do you think I have anything to worry about when it comes to the hps virus. And I first came into contact with the cleaning on Tuesday so it’s been 3 days and I know it states that it usually takes 7 to 9 days and as late as 8 weeks before there are any symptoms. I’m just worried and need some reassurance I’m okay or why I should do. Thank you.
