Sore On Knee, Spreading Into More Pimply Blister, Keep Oozing, Skin Red And Inflamed. What Is This ?

I am curious about this sore i have on my knee. It started as a small water blister after i went swimming one day, and then about a week later, two more pimply blisters popped up on my knee, and now they are growing. The sores keep oozing, and the skin is red and inflamed and peeling away. this has been going on for about a week.

Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

It seems to me that you are having a soft tissue infection probably due to a bacterial infection. You will need to have that examined by a doctor who can then confirm or exclude my suspicion. You might require a course of antibiotics such as amoxicillin or cloxacillin associated to antiinflammatory orally. Some topical steroids could be applied if your doctor deems it necessary.

Hope you feel better

Anesthesiologist Dr. Manjeth Kumar G's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
From your query i suspect you may have carbuncles on knee joint.

It is the infection of the hair follicles in the skin.
It is caused by the bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus.

Major risk factors are old age, diabetes, kidney disease etd.

Diabetic patients are more prone for carbuncle.

Please avoid the squeezing.
Gentle cleaning with warm water may be helpful.

Check your blood sugar.
If the carbuncle is large and with symptoms, you have to drain the pus with the help of doctor.
He may put you on antibiotics for some days.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Regards,
Dr.Manjeth.
