Sore Stiff Neck Starting From Waist Upto Neck. Smoker, Cold And Cough. Any Advice ?

Hi i am a 39 year old women, i am a smoker and i have been having a very sore stiff neck starting on the left side of my neck but in the last two days it has now moved to the right side of my neck and i also have a very sore pain from the waist up to my neck on my back. I visit the doctor about 4weeks ago with cold like symptons and she advised me that it was viral and my body had to fight it but i have a spit that is a little green and i don t know what i should do can yo adise.. Thanks

Hello,
Since you are having greenish sputum, you may be having bacterial infection in the throat (tonsil) region. That may be the cause of pain and stiffness in neck. You should consult a physician and after examining you he may start you on a course of antibiotics. Along with that warm salt water gargles may be useful.

I`m also of the opinion that you are down with a viral and that`s the reason of your body stiffness. But green colour of the sputum means that you have developed superadded bacterial infection. Take a course of antibiotic like augmenti 625 mgm 3 times a day, take tyelenol for body ache and take allegra or cetrizine. Take good nutritious diet and adequate rest and avoid smoking if you can.
