Sore Throat After A Piece Of Apple Got Stuck. Will This Clear Itself?
Hello, I eat an apple at lunch time, five hours ago and it felt like it caught to the right hand side of my throat. A small piece of the core came out after I drank some water and tea late afternoon. It is making me burp and when I look at my throat it looks sore. Will this pass through and how can I be sure it is not lodged somewhere?
Hi, Most of the times the food piece is not stuck and it just brushes over the mucosa and causes an abrasion in that area and passes through. Please take a Proton pump inhibitor with Syp. Mucain gel and this should be O K. In casse the problem still remains, either go for a flexible upper GI endoscopy or X raysoft tissue neck lateral view. Endoscopy will give a real time view of the area and X ray will give an idea about any foreign body trapped by a shadow or air bubble over a soft tissue shadow. Regards
