Sore Tongue And Red Bumps On It. Glands Also Swollen. What Are The Findings And Required Treatment?

my daughter is complaining with her tongue being sore and when I looked she has red bumps on the very back of her tongue. One of the glands in her throat is also swollen. Otherwise she says she feels fine, no fever, no other symptoms. She said strep was going around at her school. Trying to figure out if she needs to be seen by a dr.

Madam,
Your daughter is suffering from sore throat, sore tongue, red bumps on the very back of the tongue and she is also having enlarged tonsil on one side of her throat.
1) Sore throat may be associated with tonsillitis, deficiency of (iron, calcium and vitamins), anemia.
As you did not describe white patches in the tongue we are not going to the discuss about it. Correct anemia and other deficiency mentioned earlier - she will be alright.
2)The Red bumps on the posterior aspect of tongue is nothing but the enlarged papillae, (inflamed or irritated taste buds) - an associated condition.
3) Enlarged tonsil is due to inflammatory change because of infection.
Treatment - Antibiotic, Anti inflammatory, Vitamins, saline gurgle, proper brushing, good oral hygiene. A consultation with ENT is a must. Otherwise nothing to worry.
Best wishes.
