I have a spot on my left lower jaw, that has a little dark spot on the edge of it...It is enlarging about the size of a 50 cent piece...being noticed by friends, as makeup won't cover it now...should I see a dermatologist as my Dr. says it is just a age spot...nothing to worry about...have had allot of skin cancers taken off, due to allot of sun damage...age is 74 years...thanks...
Hi, Welcome and thanks for posting your query to Healthcare Magic. According to your query you have a spot on lower jaw which is enlarging and is diagnosed as age spot. Your doctor is very correct in his/her diagnosis. These spots are brownish or blackish colored spots located in areas most often exposed to the sun. There can be mutiple of lightening creams which can be applied like kojic acid or azelaic acid over the spot. With the continuous use of 2-3 months the spot gets lighter. Other wise the spot can also be removed with the help of radiocautery and laser as the latest of the methods. Do sun protection at the best and kindly relax these never changes int oany type of malignant growth or skin cancers!! Hope these information will help. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help. "With good health wishes" Dr Sanjay Kumar Kanodia MD (Dermatology & STDs)
