Stabbing Pain Under Rib Cage, Behind Intestine For 9 Days. Is This Muscular Problem?
I have a sharp stabbing pain on my right side under my rib area and it feels like it is behind my intestines. When I sneeze it is very painful and sometimes if I try to sit up from a lying position. I have no back pain, regular bowels and urinary output. I have had it for approx. 9 days. Do you think it is muscular, if so would sit ups help take the spasm out.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vidya KR's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Pain on right side which increases on sneeze is more suggestive of musculoskeletal pain. Analgesic with muscle relaxants helps to relieve your pain.
If your pain is not relieved with this further evaluation may be necessary to rule out other conditions. X-ray of KUB for renal stones, Ultrasound abdomen for galbladder stones. Consult physician for examination and management.
Hope this helps you.
Regards
