Stiff Neck, Ear Pressure, Sore Throat. Taking Thyroid And Allergy Medication. Remedy?

I have a stiff neck , right ear pressure/fullness, throat red, slightly sore(no white spots that I can see), very tired. The sore throat and fatigue have been going on for about 3wks, the stiff neck and ear fullness just a few days. I do take singulair and claritin for year round allergies. I also take thyroid medicine as I have no thyroid.

Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query.

I have gone through your query regarding sore throat, stiffness in neck,fullness in ear. You are taking medicine for thyroid while your thyroid is normal, for what you are taking this hormone.

It is clear that your throat due to infection had involve the ear by giving way to infection to reach the ear via eustachian tube, thus there developed acute otitis media and giving you feeling of fullness in the ear. Stiffness in the neck may be due to involvement of cervical lymphnodes.

You are advice for these investigations for management-
(1) Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
(2) X-Ray chest - P.A. view.
(3) C.T.scan of paranasal sinuses.
(4) Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar - F. & P.P.

After this by thorough examination and co-relation with investigations one can reach to correct diagnosis. In the meanwhile you may take antibiotic, anti inflammatory, decongestant and steam inhalation.
