Stiff Thumb, Difficulty Moving. Pain When Using Scissors

My r. thumb has become very stiff and hard to move, starting this winter. Very bad first thing in the morning, sometimes doesn't even bend and hard to use. Also some pain upon use, particularly when using scissors or trying to open anything (jars, plastic wrapped cheese, etc.) It is a little better now that the weather has gotten warmer. It doesn't hurt when I don't use it.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.. you might be suffering from arthritis of the thumb joints. Does it trigger? Trigger thumb is when the thumb gets locked and suddenly releases. When it is not paining keep passively moving it. X-ray will help diagnose. Short course of anti-inflammatory tablets will also help. Thank you, take care.
