Stiffness, Pain In The Neck, Shoulders. What Could This Be?
Hi I m Lesley. My shoulders and my neck have been tight. I have four young kids. I can pin point a tender spot about two inches from my sternum about four inches below my clavicle . I have toddler twins which I carry often. Doc said it maybe inflammation of cartilage . Anything thing it might be? A heart or lung issue? I have no issues breathing. Some time pain in shoulders. It s been nagging for a month or so. Was prescribed NSAIDs but they make me feel weird. Thank you.
Hi
Your description is highly suggestive of costochondritis - inflammation of cartilage at its junction with the rib. You can expect it to clear in another month or less. You are in proper hands.
NSAID is the treatment - if you are not comfortable, try reducing the dose and take it after food. If still not happy, stop it, take only paracetamol for pain. You can also try local ointment.
Good luck
