Stitches In Thigh, Bruises And Lump, Lump Stings. Suggestion?
Hi, I had an accident on Saturday on a quad bike where i fell and landed on my front. It seems like my left side got most of the impact. I went to the hospital where I got 5 stitches in my upper thigh and under that I have a huge bruise and lump. The lump stings every now and then, but I have been told by myy partner (who isn t a doctor) that this is normal. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hello,
The bruise and lump below stitch site indicates a collection of blood caused due to injury. This local collection of blood is called as hematoma and it generally resolves of its own gradually. However if it becomes infected, then it will cause local redness, intense local pain and sometimes fever.
In that case it would require drainage and a course of antibiotics.
At the moment, there is nothing specific is to be done and take usual antibiotics and anti inflammatories, which must have been prescribed to you by your doctor.
Thanks
