Hi,
Welcome to HCM
Your friend is suffering from renal stone? Is it suspected clinically or there is some X ray or sonography to confirm it.If renal stone is there then a routine Urine Examination with crystal analysis, Renal function ( Blood Urea and Creatinine) Renal sonography and IVP(if required).
Consult a uro surgeon and some times serum Calcium,Phosphate, and Parathormone may be required .
Take Lot of fluid and treat Infection if it is there,
small one can pass and analysis may be performed to know the type.
.Stone disease can be tackled by percutaneous nephro-lithotripsy (PCNL) and/or extracorporeal short-wave lithotripsy (ESWL) if stones are small and/or multiple.
Large one Surgery.
Good luck .
