Stool Sample Needed To Confirm Colon Infection, Scared Due To Intake Of Cocaine. How Long It Stays In The Body ?

my sister needs to give a stool sample because her doctor thinks she has a colon infection but she told me she tried cocaine with a few friends over the weekend and is afraid to give her stool sample thinking its going to show up and have her doctor think that's something she does on the regular which she doesn't so I've been looking online for answers for her and haven't found any so i figured i'd ask you.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the doctor is sending the stool to the lab to evaluate infection this means that they would only be looking for any indicators of infection .This would include assessment of the colour, consistency, shape , odour and the presence of mucus in the stool.

They would also try to identify if there is any blood , white blood cells (these fight infection) and any specific organisms that can be seen or found on culture of the stool.

To identify any substances like cocaine specific tests would need to be done and this is not done on stool samples.

Your sister may have used the cocaine due to the peer pressure of being with her friends but it would be best if she does not repeat this.
These substances are highly addictive and cause significant physical and psychological harm.

I hope this helps

hello,
thanks for using health care magic,
i get your concern for your sister,
well cocain is not excreted in stool.. its major route of excretion is urine..cocain is seen in urine after 4 hours of consumption and if blood levels are more than 150ng/ml then excretion may continue till 8th day after consumption..
your sister have to give stool sample and not urine right so this time it wont creat problem but its my humble request to not to try cocain again ..it has high potential for addiction .. please be careful from next time... dont let your sister spoil your life..
