Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have had sudden onset of chalky colored stools lasting for 3-4 days now after having fevers. Still have decreased appetite , abdominal cramping (more so on left side)(more pronounced after eating, but constant) and the discolored stools. Could this be infectious (viral vs bacterial), or should I be evaluated for cholecystitis?
You should be tested for serum bilirubin to rule out/confirm jaundice. If it is there, then detailed analysis for cause of jaundice, type of jaundice as well as liver enzymes should be tested. It does not seem cholycystitis,as gall bladder pain is mostly on right side or in the epigastrium.
