Suffer From Abdominal Pain. Have Vaginal Prolapse And Rectocele. Need Immediate Treatment?

Hi Dr Grief. I am 54, and was referred to local hosp,6/7 months ago with abdo pain, and a vaginal prolapse and rectocele. The hosp said they will not operate, and has only now, referred me on to another hosp, for the prolapse. I recieved a letter, from that hosp, saying my app't is in late October. Are they leaving it too long to be seen to?. I have had a hysterectomy, and am afraid that, if I get an infection, there is no barrier to prevent the infection fron going into the abdo. Can I get peritonitis from being left so long.? ( not to mention pain). Thankyou, for your advice. Gene.

Hello
Thanks for your query.
Untreated prolapse and rectocele can lead to complications such as pain, infection, incarceration of stools etc.
The earlier it is corrected surgically, the better for you.
Please try and shift the surgery as early as possible.
Take care.
Meanwhile, avoid constipation, straining at stool, chronic cough, lifting heavy weight etc.
