Suffer From Cough And Fever. Had A Dog Bite. Need To Worry?

Hi, I have been suffering from cough from the past three weeks it is a dry cough, I get a post nasal drip in the mornings. I got bit by a dog 10 days back it was not a deep wound my skin was intact i washed it with soap and water and cleaned it with spirit and put a betadine ointment on it, the dog is a neighbors pet and they said he had received all the vaccinations so i didnt consult a doctor about it! Since past two days i have a fever 102F with chills in the evening and my cough has got worse. Kindly advice!

Hello
If the dog is vaccinated and remains normal for say fifteen days after bite then chances for hydrophobia are minimum. More so if skin is perfectly intact then it is safe . You have taken first aid measure. In cases of doubt we recommend to use anti rabies injections. In your case it appears to be viral in origin as you are having post nasal drip also. Proper rest saline gargles antipyretic medicines will cure. In herbal medicines use of basil leaf and pepper or ginger and honey with hot water offer good relief. Paracetamol can be taken if fever persists.
