Suffer From Heartburn, Belching And Pain In The Breast Bone. Have Stents Placed. Pain Related To Heart?
Hi Doctor My symptoms are as follows I get some heartburn with belching and awful pain in my breast bone radiating into my neck I have had cardiac tests done and I had 3 blockages resulting in 3stents inserted into my heart last Feb. but I'm still experiencing these symptoms which I had before the stents so I've had more cardiac tests done which are all ok. Do you have any idea as to what my problem might be. Thank You Kate
Dear Sir/ma'm
Thanks for writing to us.
A pain which is in mid chest and comes always on exertion and relieves by rest is likely to be anginal or cardiac or heart pain. but if the pain lasts for less than a minute, does not comes up on exercise/running/exertion, relives suddenly after belching, comes more commonly after 2-3 hours of meals on lying down, it is more likely to be non-cardiac. if your recent work up included a stress test (TMT/Stress ECHO/ stress Thallium) and it was normal with good exercise capacity, then probability of this pain be non-cardiac is high. in that case you should see your gastroenterologist.
i hope i simplified the things for you.
sincerely
