Suffering Dyspesia And Gastric Biopsies Show Reactive Gastropathic Changes. Does This Require Further Examination ?
hi i just got my biopsy report for ogd. it says as follows. GASTRIC (ENDOSCOPIC) BIOPSIES FROM ANTRUM AND BODY OF STOMACH SHOWING REACTIVE GASTROPATHIC CHANGES, NEGATIVE FOR INFLAMMATION OR ACTIVITY OR INTESTINAL METAPLASIA OR ATROPHY OR H. PYLORI. I am suffering from dyspesia for almost 7 years and on ppi and h2 blockers. Do i need further examination?
You shouldn't worry. You have almost normal findings.
Reactive gastropathic changes are caused due to chemicals like alcohol, bile etc.
It has characteristically minimal inflammation.
It is good that gastric causes are excluded by endoscopy since you have long history of dyspepsia.
Further you need ultrasound of abdomen to exclude Gall bladder calculus as it may also cause dyspepsia.
You are taking right treatment and you should continue it.
Get well soon.
Take Care
