I have been sufffering from Neurodermatitis since the past 5-6 months.I m finding it increasingly tough to control the urge to itch despite all the topical creams, moisturizers, tranquilizers and anti histamines.....new lesions seem to emerge week after week.....this frustrates me.....please provide some guidance as to what all can I do in addition to prevent new lesions or itchy patches to emerge....and also some tips on how to control the lesions I already have...thanks....

It is important for you to understand that you have to stop this "itch scratch" cycle. When you have itch, you scratch and this inturn aggravates your lesion and when you see increasing lesion, you feel more itch and then scratch and this aggravates the lesion. As you have specified you are having "Neurodermatitis".

The main stay of treatment is steroid creams with anti histaminic tablets. If the lesions are infected then a course of antibiotic will be needed.Sometimes anti anxiety drugs are also useful. Once the lesions heals take good care of the skin and moisturize regularly so that you dont have any itching.

The main step for you to do is 'stop scatching'.

Hope it helps,
