Hi Doct I am suffering from what doctor called as 'Piriformis Syndrome" since last 2 weeks. I took some muscle relaxation medicines and by the time I was taking medicines I was in no pain at all but as the medicines are stopped I am getting severe pain now. Can you please tell me how can I get rid of it? and is it related to Gym?
There are different Pharmacological & Non pharamacological methods to treat piriformis syndrome.
The basic principle in treating this condition should involve stretching the piriformis muscle and strengthening of the abductor & adductor muscles of the hip joint.
The pharmacological treatment includes NSAID's, Muscle relaxants, local steroid injections, Prolotherapy etc.
Non pharmacological management includes Osteopathic techniques and physical therapy in the form of Heat or cold therapy, Ultrasound therapy & ocassionally Botox injections .
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
