Suffering From Hair Loss, Have Chronic Inflammation. Prognosis Of This Disorder And Best Treatment?
Thank you so much to give an opportunity to people to increase their medical and health knowledge. I have a skin question please? What is the best, effective, current and choice treatment (medicine) for the leacken plannus? It is unknown etiology and probably chronic inflammation. Only head affected, and are going to be loss of the hairs and hairless. What is the prognosis of this disorder? Thanks and looking forward your answer.
Hi Ali,
The treatment of Lichen planus depends upon the severity and extent of the disease. It can be managed with oral drugs (like oral steroids, retinoids, dapsone, mycophenolate, hydroquinone etc) or topical drugs (like topical or intralesional steroids or tacrolimus). Though it is a chronic disease but it can be brought into remission and hair loss can certainly be reduced. Appropriate treatment should be instituted as early as possible because lichen planus induced hair fall is permanent. For the same consult a dermatologist as without examining the skin lesions treatment cannot be started. Take care.
