Suffering From Osteoarthritis. Managing With Exercises And Medication. Severe Pain In The Knee After Walking And Standing. Do I Have To Go For Knee Replacement?
I am a male 60 years of age from india. I am suffering with osteo orthritis. I was managing it till now by doing exercise and medicines like jointace etc. But latest x-ray shows the bones in my knee coming closure. I am feeling pain if i stand for a longer time or if i walk for a long. How can i manage. Shall i go for knee replacement operation .? Pls advice. Thank you.
Osteoarthritis is common at your age. Please continue to do the exercises. You may add calcium supplements to your medications list. Take one tablet every day after food.
The need to undergo a knee replacement surgery can be decided upon by looking at the extent of the lesion, underlying bone pathology and the extent of bone destruction.
A knee replacement surgeon will be able to help you better on this.
Hope this helps.
Wish you good health.
